Parking your truck can be tricky. Maverick Matthews, Director of Security Operations and Physical Security, says drivers in North Carolina, especially in Mecklenburg and Gaston Counties, have been seeing an increase in parking fines. Below are some helpful reminders for drivers in those areas and anywhere else we run.
To avoid getting your vehicle booted, especially on private property, ensure you're parked legally, pay attention to signage, and be aware of the rules regarding towing and booting. Don’t park in shopping centers or vacant lots. Make sure your vehicle isn't in a prohibited area (like fire lanes or reserved spots).
How to avoid getting booted:
1. Park Legally:
Double-check parking signs and regulations before leaving your vehicle.
2. Read Signs Carefully:
Pay close attention to the signage on private property, ensuring you understand the restrictions and towing/booting procedures.
3. Be Aware of Restrictions:
Avoid parking in prohibited areas like fire lanes, reserved spaces, or areas with clear "no parking" signs.
4. If Booted:
If your vehicle is booted, carefully review the signage for information about the towing company and how to resolve the issue.
5. Report Issues:
If you believe the booting or towing was illegal or unfair, you can report it to the authorities or seek legal advice.
